Union County, North Georgia

Blairsville Trout Fishing

Blairsville and the surrounding Union County terrain represent some of the highest elevations in Georgia, producing cold mountain streams that sustain wild trout year-round. For anglers in this region seeking private managed water, Wild Water Trout Club offers a structured alternative to public pressure fishing.

The Region

North Georgia's High Country

Blairsville is surrounded by some of the most rugged and remote terrain in Georgia. Union County contains Brasstown Bald — the highest point in the state — and drains into the Nottely River watershed, which holds trout and feeds Lake Nottely. The nearby Toccoa River and its tributaries provide additional cold-water fishing in the surrounding corridor.

This elevation produces naturally cold water. The headwater streams feeding out of the Blue Ridge divide maintain temperatures that support wild trout through Georgia's warmest months — a rarity at this latitude that makes the Blairsville area a genuine four-season fishing destination.

The public trout water accessible from Blairsville draws consistent pressure, particularly during Georgia DNR stocking periods in spring and fall. Wild Water Trout Club offers anglers in this mountain region access to private managed water within the broader North Georgia mountain corridor — where controlled access and active fishery management produce a different quality of fishing experience.

Private Managed Water in the North Georgia Mountain Region

What Wild Water Offers

Wild Water Trout Club's private water on Tickanetley Creek sits within the same North Georgia mountain ecosystem that makes the Blairsville region appealing to trout anglers. The club controls 3.5 miles of this freestone creek, managing it for long-term fishery health rather than short-term stocking yield.

Managed, Limited, and Protected

The creek is managed under strict catch-and-release, supports wild brown trout reproduction, and receives approximately 1,200 lbs of strategic annual stocking to supplement natural production. Membership is limited to keep rod pressure low and the fishing experience consistent with the quality the water is capable of producing.

Membership Access Overview

Scheduled Access

Members receive two scheduled fishing days per month on the private water. Dates are coordinated through the club's reservation system to manage pressure across the creek.

Mandatory Guided Orientation

All new members complete a guided training trip before independent access. The orientation covers the creek layout, catch-and-release requirements, access points, and the hatch calendar specific to this water.

Guest Policy

Members may bring up to five guests per outing at a $100 rod fee per guest. All guest outings require a club guide. Unguided guest access is not permitted.

Limited Membership

Membership is kept deliberately small. A limited roster protects the fishery and ensures that the access structure delivers what it promises — undisturbed private water throughout the season.

Private water for North Georgia's high country anglers.

Wild Water Trout Club offers the managed private fishing experience that public water in the Blairsville region cannot. Membership is limited.
